FSSI and GBMH provide a safe place for support and understanding
Family Service Society, Inc. and Grant Blackford Mental Health have helped children and families through some of life's toughest and hardest challenges. Take Annie* as an example, here is her story:
I am Annie* and I was struggling with drug addiction. I had just come back from prison and was sent to Family Service Society, Inc. (FSSI) for help about a year ago. I was not sure what to expect. I met with the substance abuse treatment team and was offered support and understanding. See I struggle with not only substance abuse, but also with multiple sclerosis. There were times I could not make it to my groups or individual treatment appointments, but the team at FSSI were there to help me through. I was able to regain custody of my daughter and stay clean and sober. I thank my therapist and the team at FSSI for giving me and my family the hope I needed to succeed. I continue to attend therapy, to keep my head straight and to have a safe place to share my feelings. It is not easy to be a parent, but it is so much more rewarding now that I am clean and sober.
Annie's story is truly inspiring. Families and communities are transformed when donor support and programming excellence come together. We do this by:
- Providing evidence-based therapeutic counseling
- Delivering home-and school-based programming
- Improving family and individual mental health
- Offering a respected voice of hope against violence and abuse
- Providing care in a safe and inclusive environment to promote healing
Over 14,000 children and families annually, in over 26 counties in central Indiana, benefit from our programming. We couldn't do it without you! Thank you for your gift to change lives for good.
